My name is Lorenzo. It comes from the Latin surname Laurentius , which originally denoted a resident of Laurentum, the ancient city of Latium. According to tradition this city was built in a place full of laurel trees, in Latin Laurus, hence the name. Other interpretations relate directly to the name Laurus, meaning then "the one who is girded laurel," referring to the laurel wreath that was placed on the head of poets and victorious generals; in this case, it would have the same meaning of Lauro a Laura.
